Upgrades all the way around

by Stephen 3/6/2008 10:06:12 AM

Ok so I upgraded all the RAM in my computers to be 2GB over the last couple of days. My desktop went from 1GB to 2GB and that helped out more then I had imaged it would with Vista. If you are running less then 2GB on Vista you really should update it. Less then $100 is a good deal for it.

In doing the upgrade for my desktop, my Server 2008 got an upgrade as well because it had the same speed RAM as the desktop.

Also I have lately been studying for Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator  (MCSA), with this I have been doing the Online Learning and actual books. Something that I want to share with doing this, Microsoft provides all the tools that you need to prep yourself for the tests needed. You can download Windows 2003 R2 on a 180 day trail without issue or conflict. The same goes for Windows 2008 Server, and most of the Microsoft applications. I do not know why I had never noticed this before, but it is nice.

The next part of this, not only can you get the tools for this, but you can also get a Virtual Server. This means that you do not have to have 20 computers in your house. But one or two decent ones, in my case two almost good servers, running this I can run up to four virtual machines at a time. Yes it is slow, Yes it takes time, Yes it works.

You can create one image, install 2003 server, shut down the server, copy the virtual machine, change the config file in the copied version, and then add the second/third/fourth/fifth machines without any problems.
I think I will post a how to on this tonight, I will try to find a way to capture the screen to do this, I am not sure how to do the screen caps yet though.
